Welcome back!

There is one thing that my husband and I learned when mom went into the nursing home. There are a lot of different places that can be chosen.

Here where we live we do not have as many choices someone might in Atlanta. For something like like, knowing the choices you have in Atlanta assisted living facilities, would halop in the choices that have to be made.

A visit to the place and talking to the people who live there does help. Checking out websites is only the beginning. We were blesses that mom was in a very nice place with nice people who ran it and worked with the people. Choose carefully, and if possible, take your time. It is very important to get the choice right the first time.

I realize that since this is the holiday season, many people are thinking about presents and what to get.

Another choice is to craft something. After all it is another way to present something that comes directly from yourself. I like to make jewelry, placards, and other items. One of these days, I might even be able to get some diamond blades that I can use in some of the wood working crafts that I do.

I have a rotary tool that I have just started to use and it is great. Used it on some metal and found out what it is like to hold something hot. I used to weld and solder and forgot about that part of it. At least with wood, it is not as likely to get hot when you are using a power tool on it. Either way, don’t forget the safety glasses!

The next holiday that is coming is Christmas.

I know that people are thinking about what to give to people as a gift. We took an easy way to give gifts. Some we made, some involved both the person and their pet. We got some toys that the people could play with their pets and have fun.

We have in the past given beaded jewelry that had been made by hand and to specific colors for each person. Of course it is hard to figure out what to give a guy. We have a nephew who liked American Indan type of things and so I made a choker that looked Indian. He wore it for a while and did enjoy it.

Another thought that I have had involves - gastrointestinal items.

With holiday meals abounding all over the country, how many people ended up in the emergency room with people wondering what they had eaten?

There are many ways to figure out what is inside someone: scopes, cameras, x-rays, and other stuff. I wonder if they ever thought of having a train camera that would go into the digestive tract and take a tour. Ug, what a thought. I would rather eat my turkey, sit and hibernate after the meal and later wake up and wonder why I ate so much.

It has been a few days since I wrote anything. I have been working on turkey. Not the country, but the bird. Gobble, Gobble That’s me.

I do wonder however. How do restaurants get ready for the Holiday itself? Are there special Restaurant Systems that they can go to to figure out just how much food to get, or what type? Or, do they have to go to the previous records of what was sold, what was eaten and what was not eaten?

Yes, I do sometimes ask weird questions. I used to work in a lot of different places that served food. Most of the time the food was very specific such as fish, or burgers. Regular restaurants would of course have some idea…I hope.

Were you able to give thanks this holiday? We were and are able to give thanks. We are alive; we have shelter, food, and family.

This Thanksgiving we spent time with family and had a good time. Nothing fancy, but a good time nevertheless.

If we ever get the rain that we truly need, we will need protection.

Umbrellas are nice, unless you like to walk in the rain. My sister and I have done this in the past, got a flat, got stranded, walked home. We had fun. Splatting puddles, giggling, and in general acting like kids was fun.

Of course, if we happened to have a baby, a uppababy vista 2012 stroller would be nice. The rain would be nicer, however.

Yes, I know that others use that phrase.

However, wazzup? Nothing much here. Life has been easy lately, which is nice. Texas has finally gotten a little rain, the grass no longer sounds like potato chip when you walk on it, it is now green and no longer brown and a fire hazard.

Of course we have not gotten enough rain for our season so far, but at least we have not gotten flooded. More rain given a little at a time would be nice, but I am not complaining.

I have heard of people wanting more hair on their head. I have heard of people wanting laser surgery to remove hair from places on their bodies.

Now, however, there is the possibility of back surgery laser. I realize that lasers are capable of many things involving communication, electronics, production of computer chips, and marking diamonds when they are used in jewelry.

It is pretty neat that they can also be used in back surgery. One of the interesting side effects of using lasers means the reduction of bleeding and infections.

Sometimes science can be truly amazing.

It is another year. Again, the city is putting out bales of hay and decorating them with ribbons and harvest vegetables.

I guess that is the city’s way of using rustic decor to show the season.

I always wonder what would happen if hungry deer came into town and ate all of the bales of hay scattered around. That would be unusual to say the least. It is possible. The other day, I saw some deer trying to cross the road in front of the local university. They took one look at the traffic, with people honking their horns, turned around and went back onto the campus grounds. Talk about rustic.
