Stoup
Welcome back!
No, I do not mean the door stoop. This stoup is a made up word, you know kind of like wellness? Well my family was sitting around talking about different types of food and started talking about what types they liked. They mentioned fried fish, fried chicken, stew and soup among other items. I was looking in a catalog for a soup or stock pot. The biggest thing I have right now is a 5 quart crock pot (believe me I put it to use very well). When I mentioned what I was looking for, the word soup was mentioned, then all of the ingredients were talked about. The next thing that I knew we were all wanting to eat some home made soup. So, my brother and I went to the store to get the rest of the ingredients that were needed. Here is the result of what was bought and thought about.
STOUP
1 1/2 pounds Ground meat (almost any type of meat will do) brown in a pan
1 medium Yellow onion - diced and fried with the meat until starting to turn clear
5 regular Carrots sliced thin
6 regular Potatoes diced up
1 large can of Diced tomatoes
1 regular can of Okra w/tomatoes
2 Bullion cubes (choose the flavor to suit the meat used)
1/8 tsp ground White pepper (the doctor said this would not hurt your stomach like black pepper)
1/4 tsp Italian seasonings
1/2 c Spaghetti sauce of choice
1 1/2 c Water
Brown the meat and the onions together, start the carrots with only enough water to cook them, add the canned tomatoes, okra, bullion cubes, and seasonings.
When the meat and onions are done, drain them and add to the cooking vegetables. Cook for a while and when the carrots are starting to get tender, add the potatoes and the extra water, finish cooking the stoup. Be sure and keep an eye on it as it simmers, you do not want it too thick or too thin, unless you like a lot of juice.
I used a five quart crock pot and all of the ingredients fit in beautifully. I call this stoup because the final mix is not watery, but thick with the ingredients like a stew, but the stew I know of does not have tomatoes in it. So, I mix the two words together and call it stoup. Almost any variation is possible, so have fun.

Great sounding stoup. I will be trying that out soon. It’s a variation on something we do in our
crockpot.
