Lost weight

Welcome back!

When we went to the doctor’s office, both of us had lost weight. That is to the good for the both of us.

Since we are both over 50 (he will soon be 61), a good doctor’s report might make possible a no exam life insurance policy. He has some insurance, but I don’t have any. So far, we have not had the money for such things.

We are hoping in the future that it will become possible for that to change, and then I will be covered, too.

He is healing

Everyday I change the dressing on my husband’s arm.

So far, there is no sign of infection, the swelling has gone down, and he has not asked for any pain meds in a couple of days.

Of course that does not include the times that he accidentally bumps it. OW. All in all I would say it is a good report, just as our recent doctor’s office resulted in a good report. :)

Where’s the money?

Just saw something on the television about the Gulf Coast after hurricane Katrina.

Some areas look as if they had never been hit. Others look as if nothing has been done. I know the government sent funds to areas for them to rebuild. Where is the money? It makes me think that a politician took the money and thought - I will buy gold coins and help myself.

I have no idea what exactly has happened. I guess the last thing that the Gulf coast needed was for BP to gush crude all over the place. I see ads on the TV all of the time that talk about how things will be put right. I just wonder what the result will be after time has passed by.

Gone, gone, gone

The cancer that he had on his arm is GONE.

The surgeon got it out on the first cut and did not have to do any more cutting. A plastic surgeon came in and sewed my husband’s arm up.

Now, all that we have to do is wait for 3 weeks to get the stitches taken out. Both doctors that helped my husband also had cheerful attitudes and each had a great sense of humor. That helped a lot. :)

I want a laptop

I really want a laptop. I might have to check out some laptop reviews, or I could ask my brother-in-laws (2 of them), their ideas on which laptops they think are the best. Not all computers are created equally, I have found this out. Some do not have enough memory to do what I need, or to be as quick as I need.

The idea of a completely portable communication and electronic device are really wonderful. The only trouble is that I do not have the money to get something like that right now. We have to get our new van legalized and plated.

Heat Exhaustion

With all of the heat that we have been having lately, the emergency room is getting a lot of people in because of heat exhaustion.

It does not sound very dangerous, but it is. People have died from it, and some have come very close to death because they went out, got some running shorts, exercised, and forgot to drink enough water and got over heated.

I realize that losing weight is important, but so is living and breathing. I see joggers every day, out on the side of the road, or going across some of the parks that are around here. I need to lose weight, but exercise in this heat?

I don’t think so.

Health Care

We have to purchase a lot of medicine because of our health problems. All that I can say is that Medicare part D plans do help with the costs.

We both have to be careful which medicines that we take, and which one we take at each particular time. There is an additional thing that we do that helps. My husband also is eligible for the Low Income Subsidy through the Social Security Administration. That pays out additional amounts on the co-pays, otherwise we would not be able to get his medicine.

Life can be expensive.

Trouble Breathing

A friend came by yesterday. He said that he was having trouble breathing. He has COPD, and it has been getting worse.

When I sleep, I use an oxygen concentrator, it is not an inogen oxygen concentrator, but I am not sure which brand it is. Anyway, he used my machine and my bi-pap for about half an hour. After he was done, he said that he felt better. He was actually smiling then.

I wish that he would talk to his doctor about getting a machine. I worry about him is we are not at home when that happens.

Like a Queen

Yesterday was my mother-in-law’s birthday. She is now 79 years old.

She is in the late stages of kidney failure, has heart trouble and arthritis. We went to Golden Corral today. (The one in Temple, Texas). When we told the young ladies who were serving us about her birthday, they waited until we were almost done with the meal and a large group of them came over clapping, sang her a song, and then she received a great number of hugs and a couple of kisses on her cheek. She almost cried.

Another young lady came over and made her a balloon flower.

Mom almost cried again. When we left, she said that she absolutely had a WONDERFUL day. She had a smile on her face and a sparkle in her eyes.

Thank You Golden Corral workers ! (family to us) :)

Tired of heat

Yes, I know that it is summer. I am still tired of the heat. If there was an outside thermostat, I would go out and change the temperature setting to cool things down.

My favorite time of the year is Christmas, however. With mini led christmas lights, tinsel, Christmas trees, and other decorations showing. Of course the weather is a lot cooler.

Where we live, we have been having temperatures over the 100 mark. Thank God that I am not made of snow, I would have vanished by now and the ground would not even be wet anymore. Of course, some do not like the cold. Ah, I am happy ! AIR CONDITIONING :)
